Are We Ashamed of the Gospel of God

Nice way to start this blog. But, think about it. As I'm sitting here early in the morning my time reading from the Gospel of Romans in the very first chapter Paul states he is not ashamed of the Gospel of God. So, why are we. When Paul was teaching it he could have been put to death at any time. But, we are afraid of getting made fun of. I don't know about you but I'm tired of sitting on the sidelines for God. I'm praying that God works through me to start harvesting what he has sow en. Hopefully as the end of days looks ever so closer that's every one's prayer. Its states in the bible that we are going to get made fun of and ridiculed but, Jesus will prevail and take his flock home. So, my question to everyone who reads this what are we (church) going to do to get out of our box and do what God wants us to do?

Great question.

I think it's an issue of whether we as people will be accepted or rejected by our peers.

Let's admit it, no one wants to face rejection. The Word says we will be persecuted for our beliefs, no question about that. We're not getting persecuted so much physically as we are emotionally and mentally for sharing God's message with the world.

Sometimes I think we forget one of Jesus' most important sayings, that when they persecute us they are actually persecuting CHRIST IN US.

I think we as Christians need to get over our fear of rejection. I have a hard time understanding why we value the opinions of our peers so much when in the end the only one that matters is Jesus' after we depart this life. John 16:13 - Let the Spirit guide us into all truth.

I understand what you are saying. THe thoughts of our very own to what we believe others in the "Crowd" are doing. WE are so caught up in the "Now" fashions of the worldly lives, that we forget Who made us, and Who we should really be listening too!
WE settle for less in order to gain a happier time on Earth. We go wrong because we want to fit in, or show off... as if we are better than others.
I especially show this trait, and I don't like it... So I have to fix that with God upon my own!

Good point Chris. We are persecuted mentally for sharing. I can't imagine having both of those against me - fear of rejection AND fear of physical persecution like Paul had. I do know that the more we share, the easier it becomes, the taller we stand when doing it, and the less we think of ourselves and more of others when speaking. The Word says we are supposed to do this all the time, so I can do it with my co-workers, and Roger can do it with his unit, Chris with his...etc. I'm better than I was a year ago, but I need to work more on it!
